Who We Are
Brian Gomez
Brian has been in the trenches of game development for over twelve years, starting with the cult classic,
Thrill Kill. In 1998 he moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to serve as game director, then creative director, at
VIS Entertainment plc. During his tenure at VIS, Brian had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of
publishers on licensed properties like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Powerpuff Girls, and Evil Dead, as well as
original properties including State of Emergency and Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer. Brian returned to
Los Angeles in 2003 and joined Pandemic Studios as a lead designer on the groundbreaking “serious game”
Full Spectrum Warrior for the U.S. Army. In 2004 he teamed with fellow Pandemic designer Rick Ernst and
horror/fantasy author Clive Barker to create an original horror action franchise, Jericho, and launched
Alchemic Productions.
Brian is also a working writer and has optioned projects with Cartoon Network and Newline Cinema. During
his career he has had the opportunity to collaborate and learn from such writers as Clive Barker, Joss Whedon,
and Larry Niven. He is also active in the “serious games” community and consults for the defense industry.
Rick Ernst
Rick Ernst has been designing games in one form or another for over eleven years. He began with traditional
paper-and-pencil games and the role-playing game, Conspiracy X, then quickly transitioned to electronic media.
At Looking Glass Studios, Rick led the development of Deep Cover, a cold-war stealth game. Later, he joined
FloodGate Entertainment as lead designer on the critically acclaimed Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide,
as well as numerous games for handheld PCs and cell phones. In 2003 he moved to L.A. to join the Full Spectrum
Warrior team at Pandemic, where he met fellow designer Brian Gomez. Together they formed
Alchemic Productions,
co-creating the action horror game Jericho with author Clive Barker.
